Evil - a blend of psychological and supernatural horror

The horror genre has become more bolder and bloodier in the recent years, and it has also become a mainstream on television with more and more series being produced. In this post, I take a look at a new series called Evil that examines the crossroads where supernatural belief and science collide. Evil aired on CBS last week. It brings the skeptical forensic psychologist Dr Kristen Bouchard, played by Katja Herbers, who is employed by the Queens DA, face to face with her own demons and evil in human form. The pilot episode starts with Bouchard analyzing a defendant, Orson LeRoux, in her latest trial whose defense team is using demonic possession to try and get an insanity plea. However, she is unable to make a decision, she is fired. This sudden status brings her into the employment of David Acosta - an assessor for the Catholic Church - who hires her to determine if LeRoux truly insane or possessed by some ungodly spirit.
